Study Area

Our study area began with the counties which had been evacuated for due to the failure in the emergency spillway. Due to little prior understanding of a possible hazard zone, we had imagined that much of the damage would be in the immediate neighboring areas of the dam. However, after our initial hydration feature extraction model analyses, we had to expand our study area to 12 counties. After doing further analyses using the HEC RAS software, we determined that the area spanned from 8-10 counties, depending on the different scenarios we calculated.
